Is Wingstop gluten free? What the allergen guide says

Quick answer: No. Wingstop says it does not claim any of its products are gluten free, because all fried foods share the same oil. In its August 2025 allergen guide, classic wings list wheat only in Hawaiian and Spicy Korean Q, while boneless wings, tenders and the chicken sandwich list wheat in every flavor.

What Wingstop says

These are Wingstop's own footnotes from its allergen guide, quoted as published:

  • All of our fried foods are cooked in oil that contains soy as an ingredient. According to the FDA, highly refined oils, such as soy, are not considered allergenic.
  • Our foods do not contain treenuts or peanuts as ingredients, but our suppliers may have treenuts or peanuts present in the facilities where they prepare other foods supplied to us.
  • All of our fried foods are cooked in the same oil, though we filter the oil to minimize cross-contamination from wheat. Nevertheless, we do not claim our products are gluten free.

In plain terms: even when an item does not list wheat as an ingredient, it can still come into contact with wheat because of the shared fryer. People with celiac disease or a serious wheat allergy should speak to the restaurant and a medical professional before ordering. This page is information, not medical advice.

Which wings list wheat?

Wheat in Wingstop's allergen guide (August 2025)
ItemWheat listed inWheat not listed in
Classic wingsHawaiian and Spicy Korean Q11 flavors
Boneless wingsAll 13 flavorsNone
Chicken tendersAll 13 flavorsNone
Chicken sandwichAll 13 flavorsNone

Boneless wings, tenders and the sandwich are breaded, so wheat is part of the product. Classic bone-in wings are not breaded, which is why almost every flavor lists no wheat. Hawaiian and Spicy Korean Q are the exceptions because their sauces list wheat.

Fries, dips and dessert

In Wingstop's guide, Seasoned Fries, Buffalo Ranch Fries, Louisiana Voodoo Fries, fried corn, ranch, honey mustard and cheese sauce do not list wheat. Bleu Cheese lists wheat, dairy, egg, soy, fish / shellfish, and the brownie lists wheat, dairy, egg, soy.

Remember that all fried items share the fryer, so fries are still cooked in the same oil as breaded chicken.

What about dairy and egg?

Among classic wings only Garlic Parmesan lists dairy. Ranch lists egg and soy, Honey Mustard lists dairy and egg, and Cheese Fries and Cheese Sauce list dairy. The chicken sandwich lists wheat, dairy and egg in every flavor.

Cross-contact and fryer sharing

An ingredient list is only part of the picture. In any restaurant kitchen, foods can share fryers, tongs and prep surfaces, which can transfer allergens. Ingredient information on this site comes from Wingstop's allergen guide and does not describe how your store handles cross-contact.

If you have celiac disease or a serious allergy, talk to the restaurant about its process before ordering and follow your doctor's advice. Nothing here is medical advice.

What to ask the restaurant

  • Whether items you want are cooked in a shared fryer.
  • Whether the current recipe or sauce supplier has changed since Wingstop's last allergen guide.
  • How the store handles allergy requests, such as fresh gloves or clean utensils.
