How many Wingstop wings per person?

Quick answer: Plan about 6 wings per person for a snack, 9 for a normal meal and 12 for big eaters. For 4 hungry people that is 36 wings, so order a 40 pc Group Pack. This is our own rule of thumb, not a Wingstop rule.

The rule of thumb

Wingstop does not publish a wings-per-person ratio, so this is our estimate: 6 wings per person if everyone is snacking, 9 for a regular meal, and 12 for hungry or big eaters. Add sides and dips if wings are not the whole meal, and subtract if the group is ordering fries, corn or sandwiches too.

Sizes available on the base menu are 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75 and 100. The 40, 50, 75 and 100 are group packs that include large fries and dips. Wings are cheaper per piece as the order grows, so rounding up is usually better than ordering two small orders.

How many flavors to order

The number of flavors you can split an order across grows with size: up to 2 flavors on 10 or 15 wings, up to 3 on 20 or 30, up to 4 on 40 or 50, up to 5 on 75 and up to 6 on 100. A good group order has one mild flavor, one hot flavor, and one dry rub so everyone has something they like.

Game-day and party tips

  • Order early. Busy game days can mean longer waits and delivery delays.
  • Choose carryout if you can. Delivery can add fees and the wings can lose crispness.
  • Get a mix of boneless and classic: boneless is cheaper and easy to eat, classic has more protein per wing.
  • Add dips and veggie sticks. Ranch and bleu cheese are $1.49 each; large sizes are $4.29.
  • Use the calculator to run exact numbers and prices.

Adjusting for appetite, sides and age

Our per-person numbers assume wings are the main course. If you are adding fries, corn or a sandwich, drop a few wings per person. For kids, plan fewer pieces and add tenders or fries.

Boneless wings feel more filling per piece for some people, while classic bone-in wings have bone weight, so a count of classic wings feeds slightly fewer people than the same count of boneless.

Plan for leftovers

It is better to order a little extra if you want leftovers for lunch. See our reheating guide for how to keep them crisp.
